Linda McGregor set up Sunshine Nursery 22 years ago in August 1998. She is passionate and driven to provide a high quality childcare that parents and children would feel safe to leave their children with caring staff to promote learning and development. With only 35 spaces originally for 3-5 year old and after school club, Linda has worked hard and expanded the nursery to accommodate from babies upwards.
I have four children, two boys and two girls. The older boys did not go to nursery although the two girls did go to private nursery. I noticed the difference socially and emotionally in the girls, they were more confident and outgoing before going to school, they also were more cognitively aware of the world around them.
Helping the children develop their social skills, seeing the children achieve something new for the first time and listening to their funny stories. I love seeing the children moving onto school when they are confident and eager for change and when they line up for the first time and go to primary school I feel proud of all of the children. I really get inspired at a new project or a change in the learning curriculum. I also get inspired when staff develop into reflective practitioners, as it informs actions, making the learning happen!
I like to go out on long walks, there are so many lovely walks around the Torphins area, we are all privileged to live in such a lovely area.
Supporting local small businesses is essential as in turn it supports a community of learners. The more the community thrives the richer the environment is for a community of learners.
